...weddings!

Love this shot, just a fun candid.

We were referral only (aka, if someone didn't send you, we weren't shootin ya) but now we're opening up to all. Packages start at 2k. We'll put our candids up against any 4k plus shooters formals out there!! We have VERY limited openings for 2008 & 2009.

We do weddings right. Two PRO shooters with PRO lighting.

Give us a call for all the details.

Check back for our new updated wedding section.

I really need to get caught up. One of these sessions was a week ago, the other was two months ago. I have thousands of images to pick from, maybe that's the problem. Too many cute kids!

Too busy to go into details about the new studio, had some zoning hoops to jump through but I think we're back on track. I never thought I'd be looking forward to the slow season but...

Aren't These Just the Cutest...

...little kids you've ever seen?

and

Two kids sessions today, a fun break from all the seniors I've been shootin lately.

We have a TON of new kids images to post and I hope to get to them in the next week or so. I started getting a few of the images of the cutie patooties together but ran out of time and couldn't post them tonight.

The first cutie posted above got a little preferential treatment (That's my little baby! I just shot her 9 month pictures tonight but I'm a couple weeks late. My wife forgot to call and schedule an appointment and I've been booked solid so what's a few extra weeks. Paying customers first right!)

The other was from a session this afternoon. Those eyes just reach out and grab you, very captivating and a real cutie too!

I also have some new senior images to post from last week and some I'm shooting this week.

Stop back soon to see the new stuff.

The new studio is coming along nicely. I need to get some progress pictures posted, can you buy time on ebay? I need more of it.

That's it for now, me sleep.

Oh, What's The Word...

...I'm looking for...Oh yeah, there it is, SNAP!!

Senior + Professional Lighting + Professional Camera + Professional Photographer = Professional Portraits!

I gotta admit, I was gettin a bit burned out creativity wise on seniors lately. Don't get me wrong, still shootin stuff good enough to be in the top 5 in West Michigan but just feelin the pressure of always trying to come up with new stuff. There's something to be said about shooting everyone the same, time after time, riding the wave as they say, but I just refuse to fall into that track. Tonight my creativity got recharged!

So tonight I have a senior session and I just wasn't in the shootin mood (the shootin mood is when I'm about ten times more excited about the session than the senior is, tonight it was about twice as excited...).

So they show up and I'm doin' the intros, talking about what she's looking for, and we start shooting. In the past, connecting with the senior comes pretty easy but I'm always so self conscience (do they like me, am I too wacky, do I smell?)

So we're pounding out frames and I'm just sweatin (literally, we shut the air off cause it's been pretty cool lately, one of the down sides of two studios, can't be in two places at the same time).

So, the whole time I'm just workin it. I'm so self critical, I want every shot to even better than the one before. I knew we got some great images, I just had no idea how many...

So I get back to the J-town studio and start downloading images...WOW! (I never thought my white lightning 300 and a 12" umbrella could do so much).

I had a riot!!! It took a little more work than usual, I just hope Jaime had as much fun as I did. I need to get her as my L rep, she was workin it and it shows!! You too MJ - better pictures, better prices, free stuff...am I tempting you yet?

Here are some examples that don't even come close to representing what we shot tonight!!!

this one is my original vision for the shot but I was swayed a little and almost didn't post it..

We've been using boarders on images (when appropriate ever since 1998) but lately soooo many other "photographers" have been using them to disguise poor color balanced, improperly exposed and just flat out bad images hoping to make them "artsy" and "sell-able" to their clients...there's a...

I just thought this worked with this image, no hard sales here :)

It's Not Too Late...

...to get your senior pictures!

Call us to schedule your session. We have limited openings for the next few weeks and we're shooting evening sessions since it's back to school time!

Got a deadline for your yearbook picture that's creeping up quicker than you thought? We can have your yearbook strip for you 4 days after your session!!!

Give us a call and we can answer all of your questions.

I had to post this pic from a park session tonight. I always feel guilty posting new pics when I have a boatload of previous session favorites that I haven't posted yet.

so here's one from a few days ago as well.

Work is progressing on the new J-town studio. There's still a long way to go but it's getting closer.

That's it for now, time for sleepy.

Life's a Beach...

...well, I wish it was. I love shootin' at the beach, just seems like all play and no work!

I figured I'd get caught up a little on some previous sessions after editing some wedding shots.

Here are some of my faves from a senior session a few weeks ago...

The alternate title for the post was "Quality, not Quantity"

We're proud to say we don't shoot 100+ seniors each year. We don't want to! We love the fact we custom tailor each session based on each senior, no production line here! We also love the fact that our clients just plain love the way we do it.

Quick update on the new studio:

The new J-town studio is coming soon!!! We've been planning, designing, conceptualizing, and just flat out rackin' our brains to come up with the absolute most rockinist studio around. All's I got's to say is you're going to have to experience it to believe it!

Some Weddings...

Just shot this a few hours ago.

Congratulations, you're awesome!

I Just Had...

...to post these. Now I'm not playin' favorites (I've got about 14 other previous senior session highlights to post) but I just had to post these pics from my session tonight, CLICK NY west and some downtown shots.

So, I'm on the phone today, giving directions to our downtown studio to Amy's mom and we come to find out that Amy has been fencing right next door to us for 4 years. Literally, 10 feet across the hall at West Michigan Fencing Academy! Small world!!

One of the things I love about my job is how I get to meet new people and hear their story. Amy, wow, fencer, violinist, literary guru, world traveler...the list goes on...

I don't like to get too much info on what my seniors are thinking for shots, I like to get a vibe once they're in studio and shoot from there. No pre-planed shot list or pose list, we just go with the flow.

The shots we're posting tonight don't even scratch the surface, we hammered down some rockin frames! I had an absolute riot!

I love my job!

Almost forgot..

These two images go along with the previous post. Well, kinda. Same senior but different locations.

I love the studio one! That session was a riot! There are literally about 50 other shots from that session that just plain rock!!! I'm just glad I don't have to pick the finals!

The beach session was a blast too! I narrowed my top picks down to 16 for that session. I need to stop shooting so many, but when we're having fun it's hard to stop clicking:)

Can't bring your Grand Piano to our studio...

...no problem, we'll bring our studio to you!

Just a sample of our "porta studio" session. If it's too big or just can't be done in studio we'll bring our studio to your location. Professional photography & equipment right where you need it. There is a difference.

Praise The Lord!, my car broke down...

I know what you're thinking. Has this guy finally snapped. Were 2-5 sessions a day for the month of August just too much for him?

Nope, I'm just happy to be so blessed.

After a near fatal soaking of my mobile studio gear last week Wed (Praise The Lord everything was ok) I noticed a strange sound coming from the brakes of my truck. Thursday afternoon when I backed out of the driveway I heard a clunk and then a nasty grinding sound. After a quick inspection (and a HUGE chunk of brake pad laying in the driveway) I came to the conclusion that it was time for new brakes. To add insult to injury, while under the truck I also noticed my drive shaft cv boot was torn (like they say, when it rains it pours:).

So how come "Praise The Lord"?

Let me tell you. At first I was thinking "come on, I'm just starting to get ahead and things are looking good" then it hit me, don't be negative, God has given me a gift to fix things myself. So instead of spending over $2000 at the jeep dealer for a new half-shaft, brake pads and rotors I'm spending 2 hours and $156 and appreciating another gift God has given me.

It was a good lesson in staying positive and acknowledging the gifts you've been given.

I am truly blessed.

Another thing I'm thankful for is the township approval for rezoning our "coming soon" Jenison studio. We should have some illustrations of our new studio in a few weeks. I can't wait til it's open for biz. You'll have to experience it to believe it!! We are so excited!!!!

Session in 1 hr., gotta run,

Another Photo Handbag Delivered!
